The Farne Islands

Scattered a couple of miles off the coast near the fishing port of Seahouses, this cluster of National Trust islands was declared by broadcaster David Attenborough as his favourite place in the UK to see nature at it’s best. The Farne Islands are possibly the most exciting seabird colony in England with unrivalled views of 23 species, including around 37,000 pairs of puffins, razorbills, guillemots and eider ducks.

It’s also home to one of the top grey seal pupping sites in England, with more than 2,000 pups born every autumn.

For the most recent rarities sited near the Farne islands.

There are at least a further 397 birding sites in Northumberland!!
